Eye and its diseases

The human eye is the vital organ of vision.
Having good eyesight greatly improves one's quality of life.Let us know some of its diseases....
-Astigmatism:It is a type of refractive error(like blurred vision )of the eye.
Symptoms;Visual activity is decreased, eye strain causes headache, cylindrical lens should be used.
-Cataract;It is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision(most common in older people).
Symptoms;Normal vision is hampered, blindness may be caused.Lens is removed and artificial lens is used.
-Glaucoma;It is a disease that damages the eye's optic nerve.
Symptoms;Aqueous humor pressure increases,it may cause blindness.
Glaucoma
-Hypermetropia(far sightedness); In this case distant objects can be seen clearly but can't see near objects.Image is formed behind retina, so biconvex lens should be used.
-Strabismus;Eye ball  turns to any of the sides.
-Trachoma;Redness in the eye, sensation for foreign body in the eye.

Eye healthy tips:-

-Eat right to protect your eyes(like carrots and fruits).
-Maintain a healthy weight.
-Quit smoking or never start..
-Give your eyes a rest..

Cure for ALS disease..

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS) is a most advancing disorder of the part of the nervous system that controls voluntary movements.Things that we do on a daily basis, like breathing, running, walking, moving are controlled by the neuromuscular system.
-The parts of the brain that allow us to think, remember and learn are not affected by the disease but causes weakness with wide range of disabilities( such as ability to move their arms, legs and body).
-This disease is mostly seen in adults between 40 and 70 and extremely rare in children.
-Patients have increasing problem with moving, eating, swallowing, speaking(forming words) and even breathing may become difficult.Since no cure has been found yet, there are medicines that control the symptoms like difficulty in swallowing and muscle cramping.
-Current research on ALS leads to discover that changes in monocytes(a type of white blood cell which play a role in immune system function) are a biomarker for ALS.

Sleep strengthens memory..

Do you believe that during sleep your brain takes rest???
You r wrong.. A team of researches in Germany, has found that memory could be increased during sleep if the person's brain is stimulated with a mild electric current during certain phase of the sleep cycle.
Sleep: It is basically characterized in to 2 phases-a period of heightened activity within in the cortex when "dreaming" usually occurs and a period of relatively little action, mostly consisting of slow, synchronized waves that travel across the brain.
According to the scientists this is the phase where electrical simulation could be used to remember facts..
While the improvement measured may be small, about 8%,the fact that the experiment on "high performers"suggests that the improvement is significant.
